Never judge a book by its cover. I had no expectations on this movie because of a previous movie I've seen (that I'll review next time), but this was possibly the best movie I've seen on Netflix. It is a French 3D animated musical adventure film (thankfully in English) from Bibo Films.

Taking place in the 1910s, it being with a documentary of the flooding of the River Seine. We then meet two of our main characters: Emile, a small guy with a crush for another lady, and Raoul, who insist that his coat is not made of straw. In reality, he is an inventor and a delivery driver. We also meet the third main character: Lucille the Cabaret Singer. She was a childhood friend of Raoul. And she does sing very well.

One day, Raoul and Emile make a delivery to a garden, where they find that the professor who was supposed to be there was not. Raoul decides to look around and experiment with things. Playing around with a potion that can make you an opera singer and a fertilizer that can make things grow, things explode! The two didn't get hurt but a creature was seen leaving the area.

Maynott, the Police Commissioner, begins an investigation on the location of the creature, using it as a way to maintain fear and have him being elected for Mayor. Back with Lucille, she was trying to find a new musician when she accidentally knocked the creature down. She panics, but soon discovers that the creature has a lovely singing voice. And it totally does. The soundtrack of this movie is really good which only helps its case.

The creature turns out to be really friendly and she decides to give it the name Francœur (honest heart). She also dresses it up to keep it hidden from others. Back with Emile and Raoul, they were found out and sent to Maynott. Instead of being sent to jail, they were given the Medal of Honor. It is when the two groups meet up as Emile and Raoul attend a show that Lucille is singing in.

Francœur somehow gets on stage to play the guitar and perform a duet with Lucille, becoming a big hit. Emile and Raoul went to congratulate her when she reveals Francœur's identity. Knowing what would possibly happen, they tried to stage a fake death to end the hunt for Francœur. It worked for a while but it eventually failed. This lead to a big chase scene and a final confrontation with the four and Maynott.

All that ends with the death of Francœur and the arrest of Maynott, as he was willing to kill innocent people to get at a creature with more humanity than him. Later that day, Lucille was distressed that Francœur died. But when she began singing, she heard her in his ear. The potion wore off, meaning he was alive. The film ends with Francœur getting another dose that's permanent, being Lucille's duet partner and Raoul ending up with Lucille.

If you love music and animation, I HIGHLY recommend this movie. There is a ton of stuff I left out and the music is truly beautiful. This proves that Dreamworks or Pixar isn't the only good 3D Animation Company out there. And I saw the dub so I didn't have to focus on reading the text. I'm sure there is a subtitle one out there for you purist.
SPOILERS! But now for an actual good movie that I hope people will watch.
